Hong Kong Trip

I was in Hong Kong for 5 days last month.  It was a last minute notice from my superior, so I didn't have much time to read and learn about Hong Kong.

From the short trip, here my view of HK..
  • A city by the ocean just like Singapore but is huge compare to Singapore.
  • Road condition are good unless if you are in Kowloon or Mongkok area.
  • Drivers are polite, no nonsense cutting or honking.
  • MRT is very convenience.
  • Imigresen check is fast even with a supper long queue.
  • Airport Terminal one is huge but easy to navigate around.
  • If you can speak Mandarin and watch lots of Cantonese drama/movie, like I do; then there should be no problem in daily communication, most of the shops' keeper know Mandarin (maybe they are from the mainland).
  • Food are expensive but big portion; goods are at reasonable price.  Normal price for a plate of bbq meat with rice is hkd35.
  • Weather in March is unpredictable, during my stay it was between 15-20; but when the cold wind blows it can be as cool as 10.  I love it, but hardly see any blue skies.

ohh Boots! In Hong Kong

I love boots.
While in Hong Kong, I saw almost every ladies were wearing boots.  They looked so elegant.

See..

And how happy I was when I saw there were boots everywhere in the shoe store; maybe because of the cool weather at that time, I dunno..

But I only bought one pair of boots in Hong Kong.

At the moment, I have 2 pairs of boots, 1 I bought it locally last year, 1 from Hong Kong.
I'm loving it both, maybe will get more in the future, not much choice here anyway.

Burger King, Merdeka Plaza

We finally have our 1st Burger King in Sarawak; right here in Merdeka Plaza, Kuching.

We waited for about 40 minutes for this meal, and there were not even up to 10 people queueing in-front if us at that time.

I don't think I can call this fast food outlet anymore, it was just too slow.

Hong Kong | Ladies Night Market, Mongkok

We went for a late night shopping at Ladies Night Market in Mongkok, Hong Kong.

This night market is almost similar to our Petaling Street, KL

It is a great place to shop for souvenirs, there are so many to choose from.

My simple tips are:
1. Don't buy at the 1st shop that you see goods that you're interested in.  It is a huge place, I'm sure will find another shop selling the same things, the further you walk, the cheaper the price you get (at least in our case) but can be very tiring.
2. Remember to bargain.

Some of the shop keepers even know how to speak few words of bahasa and have Malay signboard ('Layan Sendiri", Terima Kasih') in their stalls, which make me think "must be many Malaysian shops here"

Ok, let's follow me on the tour..

The best way to go there is by taking the MRT, the station is right underground of the market.
When you came out of the station..this is what you get to see... ladies shopping heavan..haha

hmmm.. which one should i choose??!
haiya.. I didn't get the chance to go in to the crocs shop

 Cha Chaan Teng
Lok lok/Satay celup/Yong Tau Foo... whatever you want to call it.

ok, my backpack is full.
some of the souvenirs that I managed to grasp.

Ohh Fig!

I saw this packet of fresh fig in a supermarket at Hong Kong, I have never seen a fresh one what more to say tasted one.  So without much thinking, I just grasp 1 of these, cost around hkd37.

Can't wait to have the 1st taste of fresh fig, when I bite into it, eww.. I hate the taste.
Seriously fresh fig taste nothing like a sweet dried fig.

I love dried fig,  ever since my MIL brought back some huge dried fig from Isreal, I felt in love with it immediately.

Not easy to find good dried figs in Kuching, I once bought from Unaco, but it tasted a bit off.

I bought dried figs while in Hong Kong, still have some left in my fridge, I have to savour it bit by bit ;)

Ohh I bought few packets of these blueberry while in HK too, cheap, cost around RM4.50 only, fresh n sweet, so yummy.

Why la imported fruits are so expensive in Kuching?!

Ohh Events!

Ohh what a crazy week I had and Thank God 1 major event is down for this year.  Few more to come and I hope none involves me...huhu..

I never really enjoy organizing event, but along the way I always accidentally got involve in some kind of event, like..

In my Uni life, few events that fall onto hands like organizing a BBQ nite for fund rising; flowers selling committee for one of the convocation, and organizing a guitar concert.

In work life, one of the significant event that I organized was a Golf Tournament for VIP - which I find very difficult coz I had zero knowledge in Golf.

And just last Sunday I was actively involve in a Fashion nite.  Thank God, those are all behind me now, pheww!

We passed by this beautiful small building everyday, small as compared to the other buildings around it.

The roads and the under sea tunnel

I love these bridges

Skillful uncle that drive us to airport

We are here, no jam at all, takes us about 45 minutes to reach Hong Kong International Airport

Hay Hay Roasted Meat Restaurant

We had dinner at Hay Hay Roasted Meat Restaurant, Wan Chai, on our last night in Hong Kong.

This 24 hours restaurant is very closeby to Empire Hotel, Wan Chai.

We had..
Dry Wantan Noodle, comes with a big bowl of soup - HKD30.  Huge wantan with pork and prawn filling.  Taste better than the one at Mongkok.  Happy me.
If you order the soup separately, it will cost you HKD10.
Dry beef noodle - HKD30

Fish ball mee - HKD36

Quail - a bit tough

Simple yet yummy choi sum garlic

The location..

  Happy customer :)

Breakfast at home

This is a very rare occasion, I seldom cook for breakfast at home during weekend.  Weekend is the time when we can go out for breakfast together.

But on last gloomy Sunday morning, looking at the dark sky, I decided not to go out for breakfast.  Using whatever I have in the kitchen, end up we had a really heavy breakfast.

Let see what I had prepared..
Plain porridge
Omellette n Salted egg
Asparagus with bacon
Toasted Cheese sandwich with sugar for the kids; and with bacon for the adults.
Drinks - ice tea and hot tea.
